Marco Ramirez, Measurement & Evaluation Consultant
Marco Ramirez has worked as a management consultant for more than ten years; currently, as a side hustle to more broadly serve the field and remain connected to issues facing the most vulnerable communities. His clients are exclusively nonprofit organizations, especially progressive ones seeking to create inclusive, meaningful systemic change.
When not consulting, Marco works in affordable housing development and has done so for more than 20 years. He currently works at BRIDGE Housing and manages workforce development, community building, financial capability, and leadership development initiatives at Jordan Downs, the second largest public housing developments in the City of Los Angeles.
Marco earned a doctorate in public policy and planning from USC's Sol Price School of Public Policy. His dissertation examined the factors promoting or hindering public-sector collaboration in an era of resource scarcity and economic uncertainty.
While completing his dissertation, Marco taught courses in Public Administration, Public Policy, and Urban Studies. He also lectured internationally on community-based urban planning and policy development.
Marco is a lifelong volunteer. Since 2004, Marco has served on several nonprofit boards of directors and neighborhood-based committees. In March 2017, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed him to the City's Human Relations Commission.
Marco remains connected to public service research and practices through active participation in professional associations, volunteering as a peer reviewer for an international publication on public-sector management and leadership, and mentoring first-generation [USC] college students.
Marco drinks lots of coffee and lives in Long Beach with his wife, Norma, and two kids, Daniela (4) and Esteban (2).
